Introduction: A forgotten art, a mystery to even the most powerful archmage, chronomancy is a dark corner of magic, in which few dare to tread. Wizards and sorcerers understand chronomancy as the simple manipulation of time through arcane magic. These ignorant fools take the sacred name of chronomancy in vain, having no idea of the forces they could unleash with their meddling. Chronomancy is far more than the control of time: in a world so vast, with so few who really understand, there can be no one to warn fools fromt he apth. Once you open the door on chronomancy and allow its power to flow into your soul, there can be no turning back.

Book of Exalted Deeds

Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Introduction: There is an obvious parallel between this book and its predecessor, the Book of Vile Darkness. Both are named after minor artifacts detailed in the Dungeon Master’s Guide, artifacts that define the sharp polarity between the most abhorrent pits of evil and the highest peaks of righteousness. While the Book of Vile Darkness concerns itself with all things evil, dealing with the most reprehensible subjects ever covered in the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS game, this book tackles the opposite subject. The two books share a similar outline, and there are several other parallels in content as well, but their essential function is quite different. The Book of Vile Darkness gives Dungeon Masters the tools they need to bring the villains and monsters of their campaigns to new lows of depravity and evil. Armed with the Book of Exalted Deeds, players can now bring their characters, the heroes of the campaign, to great new heights of valor and righteousness. In contrast to thoroughly vile villains, heroes are called upon to perform truly exalted deeds.

Blood Magic – Oaths and Sacrifices

Posted in Arcane, Magic tagged at 1:35 am by kenderbard

Publisher: Mongoose Publishing
Series: Encyclopedia Arcane
Introduction: The ancient practice of blood magic has been outlawed in many civilized societies, for though it allows access to staggering levels of magical power the price can be very high. Savage tribes often respect blood magic, though even they tend to fear and avoid it where possible – its power is the stuff of legend, to be invoked only by those who expect to achieve great things or die in the attempt. A few warriors of the old school will swear blood brotherhood or other blood oaths but learning much more than that is generally the province only of primitive sorcerers or the most vile and despicable wizards. Those who go into blood magic with good intentions often find themselves seduced by its savage power, and soon want more – at whatever cost, up to and including dozens or hundreds of innocent lives.

Publisher: Malhavoc Press
Series: Book of Eldritch Might
Introduction: Malhavoc is the only known mortal arcanist to have “possessed” The Book of Eldritch Might—if one can use such a term for an object that may have been an elder god trapped in the form of a tome—for any significant amount of time.We at Malhavoc Press presented much of what he found as a book of the same name, but it was only a smattering of the knowledge that the actual source contained. This new volume, Book of Eldritch Might II: Songs and Souls of Power, offers further arcane secrets and mysterious lore: classes, feats, spells, magical items, monsters, and more.

Artificer – Power Class

Series: Power Classes
Introduction: Science and magic are often considered to be mutually exclusive, with those learned in them generally favoring one or the other. However, both science and magic are complex subjects and, as any reputable scholar will point out, there are always exceptions to any rule. It makes sense that a mind capable of understanding the intricacies of arcane formulae and the reactions between various alchemical reagents, would also be able to grasp the complexities of machinery and formulate ways of combining them.
